Welcome to my Breaker Morant Blog

A Search For Justice!

This Blog has been created as a means of educating the public about this case and to assist with my ‘push’ to get the convictions of Breaker Morant, Peter Handcock and George Witton overturned and the men pardoned for the crimes of which they were convicted by British Court martial in 1902.

This is an important case in Australia’s military history. It has been controversial as many commentators have alleged that the men were not given fair trials in accordance with the law of 1902.  Without any reference to the Australian government or any Australian legal process, Morant and Hancock, were executed by the British, without appeal.   Their appeal rights were frustrated and denied by a determined Lord Kitchener, the supreme military commander who ensured that the men could not communicate with their relatives or the Australian government. There has been much contention about the trial and the circumstances surrounding the trial.  The last words of Breaker Morant, ‘Shoot straight, you bastards—don’t make a mess of it,’ will continue to echo around the world a, because Great Britain did make a mess of the trial. The fact that the trial was not conducted properly means there is reason to overturn the convictions and grant pardons.

I am committed to getting justice for these men and for their descendants and I would like to invite you to be part of the process. Read the materials on this site, complete the on line petition and poll and if you like, buy a Breaker Morant T shirt!!  Please, send the link for the petition and this site to your friends, work associates, school mates and family members. Hi Colin, thanks very much for your support. The 60 minutes program has provided valuable marketing of my work and the voting figures in favour of pardons have confirmed what I have always believed, that these men and their descendants have the support of the Australian people. In this sense I am reminded of the petiton signed by 80,000 Austyralians in 1904. This petiton secured the release of George Witton. If Aussies could do it then, we can do it again in 2010.

I have worked very hard to get this case before a British inquiry and remain very confident of success. Your information is most interesting and I would be grateful for a copy of the documentation, every bit helps in my research.
